Golfing to Rescue The Samburu Girl from Beading

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Samburu has left girls from the county with scars of this ill cultural practice. In this drought-hit county, Beading is a threat mainly because of its secrecy.

The minors don't stand a chance to consent with negotiations mainly done between the warrior (Moran) and the mother and brothers of the girl. The mother builds a hut (Singira) for the pair and in return, the warrior provides special black and white beads to the girl as young as 7 years old to signify she is taken. There is a need to join forces to fundraise more for rescue initiatives, education, and advocacy. as they seek to be reintegrated into societies as they are termed defiant of the traditions.

The Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri shelter, educate, and rehabilitate girls who have been traumatized through experiences of sexual and gender-based violence. Consequently, the financial demand grows each passing day with each new girl rescued. Dr. Jane Ngobia the contracted LEA Client Services Ltd. to offer resource mobilization services geared towards raising funds for the Rescue Centre. We put together a one-day charity golf and dinner event and onboarded individuals and corporates. The response was commendable.

There is a continuous need to work with local communities, stakeholders, and like-minded international and local organizations to create awareness, formulate solutions, and influence change. Email us at sponsorship@leaclientservices.com to extend support to the Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Nyeri.
